Baby Supply Drive

March 1, 2023

There’s no greater joy in life than that of being a parent. But that doesn’t mean it’s without challenges and for some families it can be a real struggle.

However, you can make a local family’s life just a little bit easier by supporting the CHAP/MRCPL Baby Supply Drive that starts today!!!

The following Mansfield Richland County Public Library branches Bellville, Lexington, Madison, Main (Mansfield), Ontario, Plymouth, and the MRCPL Bookmobile, are accepting donations from March 1st through the 31st.

New items accepted for donation include:

For Baby:
 Diapers/Pull-Ups
 Wipes
 Baby Clothes
 Teething Toys

For Mom:
Self-Care Items (lotions, bath soaks, etc.)
 Robes and or Slippers
 Breast Milk Bags
 Nursing Pads

Donated supplies will be distributed to CHAP’s participating families. CHAP supports families in six counties including Richland, Ashland, Morrow, Crawford, Knox, and Huron.

Baby Supply Drive Wrap-Up - THANK YOU!!!

April 7, 2023

CHAP wishes to extend our gratitude to everyone who contributed to our Baby Supply Drive! Many participants in our program will benefit from their generosity.

Mansfield Richland County Public Library (MRCPL) hosted the drive. None of this would have been possible without their support of our program and the community.

The MRCPL has compelling events every month for all ages. For more information on how MRCPL supports the Richland County Community, click the link below for what's happening right now:

CHAP would also like to thank Mansfield Plumbing Products. Some of their current and past employees donated baby items in addition to making a generous monetary donation to our organization.

Pictured with the donated mom & baby supplies are three of the many Community Health Workers (CHW) who will be distributing the supplies to our program participants. From left to right Fredonia Crawford, CHW with Akron Children's Hospital; Robyn McNulty, CHW with Madison Adult Career Center and Brenda Alexander, CHW with Urban Minority Alcoholism & Drug Abuse Outreach (UMADAOP).

COMMUNITY BABY SHOWER

May 19, 2023

Yesterday Community Health Access Project (along with other local agencies such as Healing Hearts, UMADOP, Third Street Family Health Services, New Mercy Outreach, Avita, and Ohio Health) came together to support local families by participating in a community baby shower.

A community baby shower is an event to support residents who are expectant mothers or those that have recently given birth. The goal is a day of outreach, support, education, and distribution of supplies parents need and help to ensure their babies are given every opportunity for a healthy start in life.

We are very grateful to Marissa Runo Daniels from Help Me Grow for organizing the event and to Crossroads Church in Mansfield for hosting it.

CHAP had the pleasure of handing out supplies and speaking with over 75 expected and existing parents about their needs and the resources that are available.

CHW DAY

July 5, 2023

Last month, CHAP hosted a celebration of Community Health Workers in recognition of CHW Day.

This event would not have been possible without our sponsors; Humana, United Healthcare, AmeriHealth, BDry Waterproofing of North Central Ohio, and John's Drain Service & Excavating. CHAP is very grateful to the First Congregational Church in Mansfield for allowing us to hold the event there.

Most importantly, CHAP is so appreciative of everything the CHWs do for the members of the community that need it most!
